Guess who is Rain’s girlfriend?
Chou plays the God of Martial Arts in the movie Beggar So.
TAIWANESE rising star Alan Luo is venturing into the Hong Kong movie world, starring in his first male lead role with Twins survivor Charlene Choi in Passionate Years.

Luo plays a French chef who woos Choi’s character with his cooking.

He told reporters how nervous he was, especially as the role involves some passionate scenes with the delectable Choi.

He calls her a “good friend” but Choi, on the other hand, hopes to “understand him better” before they get cosy.

WHILE Choi’s career is going from strength to strength, the same cannot be said of fallen Twins member Gillian Chung.

Scenes involving Chung were a no-no in director Chen Kaige’s much-anticipated blockbuster Mei Lanfang, which finished post-production work recently.

The actress withdrew abruptly from the movie project following the appearance of nude shots of her on the Internet earlier this year.

Chen, however, said in a report that while the decision was “regrettable”, he appreciated the effort Chung put in during filming.

The film stars such luminaries as Zhang Ziyi and Leon Lai.

ONE Hong Kong actress who is very much in the limelight these days is pretty Michelle Ye. The Miss Chinese International 1999 winner has made a name for herself with leading roles in TVB dramas such as Eternal Happiness, Central Affairs, Triumph in the Skies and Lost in the Chamber of Love. She is now in the midst of filming an action flick titled Assassins.

A bit of background on her: Ye is actually quite a scholar, having migrated to the United States at the age of 11 and shining academically in her youth.

Taking part in the beauty contest was the turning point, spurring her to return to the former British colony to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Her stint at TVB included being the station on-site reporter at the Athens Olympic Games. Besides appearing in a few movies, she also acted in a few series produced by rival station ATV.

JAY Chou will be taking the role of an invincible “God of Martial Arts” in the movie Beggar So, co-starring opposite the radiant Zhou Yun, Vincent Zhao and our very own Datuk Michelle Yeoh.

Even though Chou doesn’t have many scenes in the movie, he doesn’t mind as he feels it’s an “amazing” role to play nonetheless.

As to whether he will have any steamy scenes with Zhou Xun, he was quoted in one online report as saying he merely considers her as “big sister Zhou”. So there.

Chinese martial arts choreographer Yuen Wo Ping, who made a name for himself in such blockbusters as The Matrix, will direct this kungfu epic, also tentatively titled True Legend.

It tells the story of a martial arts master from the Qing Dynasty who fell from grace to become a beggar after he and his family became victims of a conspiracy.

Transforming his life, he soon became a patriot and a folk hero.

Beggar So’s story has been adapted numerous times on television and film, including the 1992 comedy starring Stephen Chow.

Taiwanese songbird Jolin Tsai had a near miss when performing in Macau recently. The audience in the sold-out show must have felt their hearts miss a beat when the sexy artiste, who was strung up in the air for one segment, obviously had a difficult time when one wire pulled her higher than it should.

Jolin, however, kept her cool and slowly manoeuvred herself to safety. There was loud applause all round when it was clear she was safe. You go, girl!
